I have created a nonprofit organization called Fighting Cancer with Music, and I'm trying to build a bridge to allow bands/musicians to help with the fight against cancer. I have had numerous members of my family fight cancer; some have been successful and some have lost their fight.
What I started to realize is that everyone has a similar story to tell and I decided that it was time for me to see what I could do to help, so I started this foundation to try to help bring financial relief to families who are struggling in their everyday life because a member is fighting cancer. It's hard enough to have to fight this heinous disease, but to have to have the additional stress of a financial struggle is terrible, and is something that this foundation is trying to help alleviate.
What I have learned through this journey is that not only does the money help these families tremendously, but the positive energy that comes from the hope that this foundation brings helps out more than any of us really understand.
